Identifying speakers when transcribing

by admin secretary

When transcribing recorded conversations where both parties are not named, how should I reference the speakers in each line being transcribed? (ie: Unknown speaker 1, unknown speaker 2, initials, )

Identifying speakers when transcribing
by: Sandra, site owner

If a client hasn't given you instructions on how to identify speakers or given you a template, then if you're talking about one speaker asking questions and one answering then you could go with Q for interviewer and A for interviewee.

You could put Speaker 1 and Speaker 2 if you like, but I always use Q and A or Q: and A:.

Hope I've helped.

Kind regards
Sandra
