transcribing a conceiled tape

I have been asked to transcribe a tape between an employee and supervisor that was very obviously done on a conceiled digital recorder. Am I opening myself up to legal action if I do this? I believe that the transcript I would be producing would be produced at a hearing regarding the conduct of this employee.

Transcribing a conceiled tape

I'm not sure what country you are from, but I'm sure that in Australia people must be informed if their conversation is taped and they must agree to have the conversation taped. I'm not sure what the legal ramifications are for submitting a transcript that is recorded without the person's knowledge, it can possibly be inadmissable, etc. But I dont know I'm a transcriber not a lawyer.

I'm not sure what the ramificaitions are for a transcriber transcribing a conceiled tape. I don't think anything really, but if you don't feel comfortable transcribing it don't do it. I wouldn't, I would only and only transcribe audios where all parties concerned are aware and agree to the conversation being recorded.

Sorry for the late reply and hope this helps.

Kind regards, Sandra, site owner
